How the pad actually stays dry

Three layers, not one thick towel.

The page describes a patented three-layer construction. The top is an 80% cotton/20% polyester cloth that sits against skin. The middle is an 8-ounce poly soaker Unique-Dri inner core that captures and holds the moisture. The bottom is a moisture-proof barrier layer that stops it reaching the mattress or chair underneath. Washing

Machine wash warm, tumble dry low — and skip the softener.

Recommended washing instructions: Machine Wash Warm, Tumble Dry Low. Wash and dry the pad fully before you use it the first time. Wearever recommends Puracy Natural Laundry Detergent and Stain Remover.

No chlorine bleach and no fabric softener. The page is explicit that laundry additives like these will reduce the pad's absorbency — this is a stricter rule than the plain machine-wash instruction on our socks, and it is worth following if you want the 60-ounce capacity to hold up over 200 washes.
